    Hello, this is MapleStory2.
Today we want to go over how you can combat inappropriate use of UGC and online trolling.

    Blocking
    • Reporting and Blocking are now separate things
    • A system to maintain blocked people has been added
    • If you choose to report and block a character at the same time, their profile image, messages, mails, and any kind of request will become invisible to you
    • In the case of false reporting, you will receive severe punishment in return
    Restrictions
    • If you disobeyed a rule for a certain community content (UGC or chat), you would normally have been restricted just from that respective content. This has now been changed to a debuff called, "Velma's Judgment", which restricts you from any community content, should you choose to break any rules regarding any community content.
    Velma's Judgment
    • Restricted from any kind of chatting
    • Unable to upload billboards
    • Restricted from making any UGC content
    • Restricted from using the UGC market board
    • Restricted from using any UGC item
    • After observing the game data and the community's feedback, we found that people who received restrictions from chatting continued to troll in other methods such as through UGC or billboards. People who received restrictions from UGC content also continued trolling via chat. This is the reason why we decided to implement, "Velma's Judgment," which disables any possible route for any offender to offend the community again.
    • "Velma's Judgment" debuff will not affect leveling up or combat
    • The debuff can last as short as a few hours, or even a few days if serious offence has been made
    • People who are responsible for leaving a severe negative impact in the game will ultimately lose their testing privileges and could even face restriction from playing the game any time in the future.
    Alikar Prison
    • Is no longer a place you will be locked into, but a place for repentance
    • Anyone can enter or leave prison at will
    • You can reduce "Velma's Judgment" debuff timer by pulling out "Grass of Atonement"
After a thorough discussion with the team, we have decided that we should prioritize in keeping the community pleasant and comfortable, rather than prioritizing in punishing offensive players. In order for players to keeping enjoying UGC, we will always be working hard to improve our countermeasure to trolling.

    Bug Bounty
    • The bug bounty system continues from the last CBT.
    • We will be awarding the first player who finds an exploitable bug that affects the game's economy with a shopping coupon worth up to 1 million won! (Approximately $1,000 USD)
    1. What are some bugs that affect the game's economy?
    • Duping items and meso
    • Receiving same quest rewards over and over
    • Bug related to upgrading gears
    2. How is the bug bounty amount decided?
    • The development team and QA team will go over your report and rate them in terms of: High, Normal, and Low
    • The criteria they will make this judgment relies on: Bug's importance, Whether you abused it or not, How long it took for you to report
    • The maximum bounty amount we will reward you with is 1 million won ($1,000 USD)
    3. Do all reporters receive bounty?
    • Only the first player who reports to us with a bug, which we were not aware ourselves will receive the bounty
    • We have prepared over 20 million won (Approx. $20,000 USD) just to give out to players who find bugs, so please try your best!
Lastly, it is true that in order to reduce the number of bugs, we have to develop the game properly and test it thoroughly ourselves before putting it out in the public. We hope, however, that through looking for bugs, which we are not aware of ourselves, that we may grow and become a MapleStory2 community that improves the game together, not exploiting at every chance.

    Ty Onion!

I'm happy to see they changed the prison system, I was afraid that players would abuse that in the GMS release.
Pulling out "Grass of Atonement" is a good idea for players who have Velmas debuff on them. It punishes players that want to remove the debuff but players who don't care will just continue playing without UGC stuff. It's a win/win.

Glad to see they're continuing the bug bounty as well. If I find any bugs I'll just give them to @Mino so he can have free money :boss:

It's not uncommon for tech companies to have bug bounties. Patch up the holes before the hackers take advantage of them. 1000 dollars is cheaper than losing server uptime/players from hackers becoming rampant.

True, but I suspect there are better ways to go about it. The money would possibly go to a hacker too lol.

It's also an incentive for players to not just keep the bug hidden, and exploit to their hearts content.

woah gosh this system looks good to me ; 3;!! there's only so much one could do to a hacker or a troll, but lets hope system stops most of them and makes MS2 more enjoyable / v\ !

looking at the direction this game is taking, it looks like the community is a very important part of this game

Google does it aswell, basicly every big company does it. The rewards they give are insane.

I still don't get why Nexon America never implemented this onto gMS.. There's alot more exploiters / hackers in gMS than kMS. Even if we report it, it will only get fixed by them if it's really hurting the game and get's out of control, but most of the time it's already too late then.

Have they already decided what "anti-hack" program they are going to use for MS2?

    How? How 100 000 KRW = 1000 $ and 20 000 000 equals 20 000 $? Primo, This should be 2 000 000. Secundo, 100 000 KRW doesn't equal 1000 USD, 100 000 KRW equal ~90 USD.

Anyway, thank you for doing this!

Thanks for noticing that. I read the Korean currency wrong and fixed it accordingly. For simplicity's sake, I've just reduced the 0s, it's something we do as 1 USD = roughly 1,000 KRW.

So the time of Velma's Judgement can vary depending on what you were doing? Well, that's well thought out. Better than bringing down the ban hammer instantly.
